An elder (in Greek, πρεσβυτερος [presbyteros]) in Christianity is a person valued for his or her wisdom who accordingly holds a particular position of responsibility in a Christian group. However, elders exist throughout world cultures not only because they are revered by religions but because they are older persons devoted to supporting the young, advocating for a healthy planet, offering blessing and generally seeking to share their long life experience.
